Michael Ramirez

I've tried a lot of approaches to managing stress since leaving the military, but this was the first one that truly helped me understand what was happening in my nervous system. The breathing practices and gentle movement have become part of my daily routine, and I've noticed I'm sleeping better and feeling less on edge.

Danielle Brooks

I wasn't sure what to expect from a yoga therapy course, but this experience completely changed my perspective. The trauma-informed approach made every practice accessible. I would recommend this course to any veteran looking for healthy ways to manage the lasting effects of service.

Anthony Johns

This course offered much more than yoga—it provided a roadmap for understanding how trauma affects the body and practical ways to support healing. The gentle movement, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices helped me feel more connected to myself than I have in years.

Why Choose Coming Home to Your Body: Yoga Therapy for Healing & Acceptance?

Many approaches to healing focus on fixing, changing, or returning to who we once were. But Coming Home to Yourself: Yoga Therapy for Healing and Acceptance from My Vinyasa Practice offers a more compassionate, body-centered path—one that honors healing as a process of reconnecting with yourself exactly as you are. Part of the on-demand MVP Yoga Therapy series, this self-paced course integrates therapeutic yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, and evidence-informed practices to support healing with gentleness, awareness, and self-compassion. You’ll explore how life transitions, physical changes, emotional experiences, and identity shifts can impact the nervous system, body image, and sense of self while learning practices that help restore safety, soften self-judgment, and cultivate deeper acceptance.

Samantha Ruiz

This course helped me reconnect with my body in a way I didn’t think was possible. After major life and physical changes, I felt disconnected from myself for a long time. The practices were gentle, grounding, and deeply compassionate. I finished each session feeling more accepting of where I am right now.

Jerome Dale

Coming Home to Yourself felt less like a yoga course and more like a space to truly breathe again. Michelle’s teaching style is calming, supportive, and incredibly inclusive. I appreciated how the course acknowledged the emotional and nervous system impacts of change instead of focusing only on movement.

Irene Taylor

I’ve taken many wellness courses, but this one stood out because of how human and approachable it felt. The blend of somatic practices, breathwork, and reflection helped me soften years of self-criticism. I now feel more connected to my body and more compassionate toward myself.

Yoga Therapy for Veterans: Finding Peace After Service

Transitioning from military service, living with the effects of deployment, navigating injury or illness, adjusting to civilian life, or carrying the weight of difficult experiences can place significant demands on the nervous system. Even long after service, stress, hypervigilance, chronic pain, anxiety, grief, or feelings of isolation can affect both physical and emotional well-being.

This four-week experiential Yoga Therapy series offers veterans a supportive, compassionate space to reconnect with themselves and cultivate greater resilience through evidence-informed mind-body practices.

Each 60-minute session integrates therapeutic yoga, gentle movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation techniques designed to support both physical and emotional health. Practices are adaptable to all abilities and experience levels, with an emphasis on creating safety, choice, and empowerment throughout each session.

Together, we'll explore how stress and trauma can affect the nervous system while learning practical tools to regulate the body's stress response, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, ease tension, and build greater emotional balance. Drawing from the wisdom of yoga philosophy alongside modern neuroscience, you'll develop skills to cultivate presence, self-awareness, resilience, and a renewed sense of connection with yourself and others.

Whether you're navigating the transition to civilian life, recovering from injury, managing chronic stress or pain, coping with grief or loss, strengthening your mental well-being, or simply seeking effective tools to support your health, this series offers a welcoming environment where your experiences are honored and respected.

WHY YOGA THERAPY FOR VETERANS: FINDING PEACE AFTER SERVICE?

Many approaches to supporting veterans focus primarily on managing symptoms or simply pushing through difficult experiences. My Vinyasa Practice's Finding Peace After Service: Yoga Therapy for Veterans offers a compassionate, evidence-informed approach that recognizes the profound connection between the body, mind, and nervous system. Designed specifically for veterans, this course blends modern neuroscience with trauma-informed yoga therapy to support healing, resilience, and overall well-being. Rather than encouraging you to suppress stress or force yourself to "move on," you'll learn practical tools to work with your nervous system in ways that foster safety, regulation, and self-awareness. Through therapeutic yoga, gentle movement, somatic practices, breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, and embodied education, you'll develop skills to reduce stress, ease anxiety, improve sleep, release chronic tension, and cultivate greater emotional balance.
